Support to the Philippines in Shaping and Implementing the International Climate Change Regime (SupportCCC II)
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

SupportCCC II strengthens the Climate Change Commission and other key actors in implementing and coordinating the national climate change regime as well as developing and operationalizing national contributions to the international climate change regime.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Climate Change Commission, under the supervision of the Office of the President, coordinates the national climate change policy and leads the Philippine delegation to the international climate change negotiations. Since 2012, the Climate Change Commission already enhanced its institutional capacities and improved its management and planning instruments. However, in order to secure a coherent and internally effective climate policy at local, national and international level, more efforts have to be undertaken.

Overall outcome: The Climate Change Commission and other key stakeholders of the Philippines ensure a coherent implementation of climate change policy at national and subnational level and contribute to the further development of the international climate change regime.

Outcome of Component IV (Renewable Energy and Energy Planning): The Department of Energy implements effectively the regulatory framework to promote the use of renewable energy and aligns the national energy planning towards a coherent and climate-friendly power sector.
