VN07 Accelerating Innovative Start-ups for Energy Efficiency (AIS4EE)
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The project aims to improve energy efficiency, particularly in the industry, transportation, and green building sectors in Viet Nam, via increasing investments in innovative business solutions through start-ups, in alignment with VNEEP3 and the National Green Growth Strategy (VGGS). The main beneficiaries of the project are the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) as well as start-ups with energy efficiency solutions. Direct support is channeled to accelerate up to 30 start-ups (“product-market fit”) and youth groups (“idea-product fit”) with innovative business solutions on energy efficiency in target sectors. Moreover, training for lecturers and trainers in relevant academia fields will be rolled out.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Viet Nam is one of the most energy-intensive countries in East Asia. To support the Viet Nam – National Energy Efficiency Program (VNEEP3) which was set up by the government of Viet Nam to address this challenge, the European Union Delegation to Vietnam (EUD) and GGGI kicked off the “Accelerating Innovative Start-ups for Energy Efficiency” (AIS4EE) program in 2022. The project focuses on accelerating innovation and market development of the energy efficiency (EE) sector, with the following key components: Start-up Acceleration Increasing investments in start-ups providing innovative in EE for industry, transportation, and green building. Policy Incentives Enhancing policy framework for innovative start-ups in energy efficiency by developing recommendations for policy incentives to accelerate the commercialization of EE innovative solutions offered by start-ups. Start-up Ecosystem Development Improving innovative ecosystem for start-ups in energy efficiency in the long term through (i) training of trainers and building a network of start-up ecosystem stakeholders in energy efficiency; (ii) capacity building for potential EE start-up founders and investors and (iii) raising awareness for the public at large.
