PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) is a financing facility established by the ASEAN Infrastructure Financing Mechanism (AIFM) to support infrastructure development in the ASEAN region, including the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative. Examples of funding to transmission lines projects that will be part of APG:
1.    Indonesia: Java Bali Power Transmission (USD25 million)
2.    Sumatra Power Transmission Improvement Project
3.    the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP–EAGA). 
4.     The Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund is a dedicated fund established by the ASEAN member nations and ADB to address the ASEAN region's infrastructure development needs by mobilizing regional savings, including foreign exchange reserves. All ASEAN Infrastructure Fund-financed infrastructure projects are also cofinanced by ADB funds. The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund is an integral part of ASEAN’s efforts to strengthen regional connectivity. 

ADB is the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund's administrator, and ADB also provides technical support. ADB's Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division, Southeast Asia Department, is the focal point for the administration of the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund. ADB also acts as a cofinancier and the lender of record for the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund loans.
