EU Delegated Funds - Indonesia Energy Transition Facility
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The Indonesia Energy Transition Facility (IETF) is a technical assistance programme supporting Indonesia’s transition to sustainable energy. It is funded by a €10.6 million grant from the European Union (EU) and complemented by a €4.1 million grant from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and is implemented by AFD with support from its branch, Expertise France.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The IETF programme is structured around two main components:
1. Energy transition policies: The technical assistance provided by AFD will support the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) in strengthening the regulatory framework for the energy transition, promoting renewable energy, and integrating enhanced environmental, social, and gender considerations.
2. Energy project preparation with state-owned enterprises (SOEs): AFD will support the development of renewable energy and network infrastructure in collaboration with energy SOEs, such as PT PLN, Indonesia’s electricity company, following best environmental and social practices. These SOEs will also benefit from capacity building.
