PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Scaling up the partnership between PT SMI and AFD, this grant support from EU’s Asian Investment Facility (EU-AIF) is the grant mobilization through PT SMI to support several main objectives as: (1) increasing the sharing of PT SMI’s financing portfolio (2) supporting the transition of PT SMI from an infrastructure company to a Development Finance Institution (DFI) (3) contribute to the achievement of SDG objective in Indonesia and (4) disseminate technical know-how and good practices in PT SMI through Technical Assistance (in particular on the credit risk process for SDG project, and de-risking activity).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The grant is structured around 2 components: (i) EU-financed Technical Assistance comprises of EUR 3 million of Technical Assistance grant that will be used for project preparation fund, preparation and implementation of a de-risking facility to facilitate project finance for SDG investments, and financing of Verification Consultant to verify the project before the loan or Investment Premium disbursement. (ii) Investment Premium (IP) comprises of EUR 2 million to provide additional support to project sponsors, implementing eligible investment with high developmental impacts, and to support PT SMI in financing innovative SDG projects. There are several pipelines currently listed for this grant, such as: Capacity Building on Climate Finance & Municipal Financing Mobilization Expert Capacity Building on Climate Finance & Municipal Financing Capacity Building on TCFD/IFRS Reporting Support to Indonesia’s Regional Hospital (“RS BLU”)
