Deep decarbonization of Thai industries based on the emission trading system and carbon border adjustment mechanism
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

To support Thailand in effectively implementing a climate-just Net Zero National Pathway (NZNP), with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the industry and building sectors through policy enhancement, capacity building, technology demonstration, and financial mechanisms.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The “NZNP Deep Decarbonization of Thai Industries” project supports Thailand’s climate-just net-zero pathway by focusing on the industry and building sectors. The building component aims to reduce GHG emissions by integrating nature-positive and green economy approaches into policies, creating coordination platforms, and enabling net-zero building investments. Key activities include improving national strategies, setting nature-positive building standards, demonstrating low-carbon technologies, and supporting knowledge sharing. The project also offers technical assistance for energy-efficient building design, certification, and financing. UNIDO leads complementary efforts to cut emissions from construction materials like cement and steel.
