PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The objective of the GEF PPG is to develop the project concept into a full project: Indonesia’s Net Zero Acceleration through Integrated Actions in the Energy and FOLU sectors (INET-ZERO). As described in the project concept (child project concept note) approved during the 64th GEF Council Meeting, 26–29 June 2023, this project aims to accelerate reduction of GHG emissions and maximizing nature positive benefits from the Energy and Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) as the two key GHGs emitting sectors in Indonesia in a systematic and integrated approach. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) will be the Implementing Partner (IP) of full-size INET-ZERO project, while the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) will be a Responsible Party to support in delivering activities related to the Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU). UNDP and UNEP will jointly support the implementation of the full-size INET ZERO as the selected GEF Agencies by IP. The separation of work and budget between UNDP and UNEP for the full-size project implementation can be seen from the detailed Component Activities below. UNDP and UNEP will sign a separate grant agreement with the IP. The UNDP Project Document will only contain scope of activities and budget under UNDP’s responsibility. However, the Environmental and Social Management Framework and grievance mechanism will be developed to cover the entire project and will be implemented by UNDP and UNEP respectively to the scope of activities of each agency. The substantive work and budget for the implementation of PPG will be managed separately by UNDP and UNEP by ensuring substantive integration to meet the project’s objective under the coordination of UNDP’s PPG Team Leader consultant. This PIP only addresses the component activities and budget under UNDP’s responsibility.
