The project aims to institutionalise knowledge on off-grid electrification using renewable energy in Indonesia.

This Project aims to increase private sector investment in Renewable Energy (RE)  and also strengthen economic and social development options through the use of RE for reliable and sustainable energy supply.

The main objective of this project is to attract investments in the renewable energy and energy effciency sectors in Vietnam

The overall goal of the project is “advanced, distributed energy solutions deployed to improve urban energy resilience and energy security” in Vietnam. At its completion, the USAID Vietnam Urban Energy Security must achieve the following high-level expected results:
• At least 400 megawatts (MW) of advanced, distributed energy systems deployed in the selected cities.
• At least $600 million in public and private investment mobilized for advanced, distributed urban energy systems.
• At least 20 innovative solutions to address urban energy and environment issues demonstrated and/or commercialized

The project aims to implement a piloot solar actioning pilot in Viet Nam. The ADB will suport in choosing the locations, conducting the Pre FS and FS as well as support to prepare for the tender and tendering process. The output is Pilot Solar Auction

China Everbright International Limited (CEIL) aims to develop and invest in WTE projects with a combined capacity of up to 7,500 tons of MSW daily in Viet Nam. Each WTE plant will treat MSW, recover waste heat for power generation and supply to the local grid, purify waste gas, and treat leachate. By 2028, 2.5 million tons of MSW will be treated per year, 790 GWh of electricity will be generated annually, and approximately 787,300 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) emissions will be avoided on average per year

The Viet Nam Energy Sector Assessment, Strategy, and Roadmap, identifies support for energy efficiency and renewable energy generation as one of the five key areas for 2016 to 2020. The S-KSTA provides a substantive entry into the renewable energy space in response to the government's increased emphasis and identified financing requirements.

ADB is helping Viet Nam expand and improve electricity services for ethnic minority communities in poor, remote areas. The project will develop five to 10 mini hydropower plants to serve communes in mountainous areas in the north. It will also support the rural electrification program and expand power coverage to five provinces and provide electricity connections to about 100,000 poor households.

In its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), Thailand committed to reducing 20-25% of emissions from the energy, transport, waste and industry sectors by 2030 below business as usual

Main activities under TGCP-Energy are:

• Conduct studies and develop policy recommendation papers on GHG mitigation-related topics (e.g. Renewable Energy Forecast, Electrification system for remote areas or islands in Thailand, MRV system for energy sector etc.), and provincial energy data management roadmap.
• Design and develop innovative tools to assist the energy planning process, namely energy system modeling and the integrated energy planning platform.
• Strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Energy’s staff in renewable energy, emerging energy technologies, climate change and effective energy planning process.
• Develop provincial energy scenarios for Thai pilot provinces to support their planning process.
• Support the implementation of project / activities under the provincial energy action plan in the pilot provinces.
• Transfer knowledge and build up capacity of Thai institutions in the development of provincial energy scenarios.
