The Affordable and Sustainable Energy Transition Program supports Indonesia’s energy transition by helping achieve its NDC 2022 and net-zero emissions in the power sector by 2050 through policy reforms. It aligns with ADB’s energy policy and Strategy 2030 priorities, including climate action, gender equality, and governance strengthening. The program follows a staggered policy-based lending approach with multiple subprograms to ensure a phased and effective transition.
The project aims to develop bankable FSPV projects and facilitate investment, demonstrating the viability of utility-scale FSPVs for future scale-up and replication. The project aligns with the Government of Indonesia’s ambitious targets for renewable energy development through the National Energy General Plan (RUEN) and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). The project is a crucial step towards enhancing the renewable energy landscape in Indonesia and achieving energy security while securing environmental goals
The project aims to develop a full-scale initiative—INET-ZERO—to accelerate GHG emission reductions and enhance nature-positive outcomes in Indonesia’s Energy and FOLU sectors. It promotes a systematic, integrated approach with UNDP and UNEP jointly supporting the implementation under their respective responsibilities.
Lead the Just Transition Working Group (JT-WG) under the Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (I-JETP) Secretariat. Support implementation of Indonesia JETP Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP).
Support to collectively respond to the climate emergency and establish resilient development pathways for sustaining human security and green transformation
The roll out of climate-neutral cold chains contributes to the national climate friendly economic transformation of Indonesia
Indonesia is established as an actor in international cooperation on decentralized renewable energy systems
NZMATES is here to support the development of a vibrant renewable energy sector in Maluku. In partnership with the Indonesian government (EBTKE and PLN) NZMATES will help deliver long-lasting, reliable, and affordable renewable energy project to the people of Maluku Province.
NZMATES activities include carrying out field surveys, resources and techno-economic assessments, delivery model development, participatory community engagement, leveraging funds, capacity building and forging partnerships to kick-start the uptake of renewables.
The project aims to accelerate the country’s transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, enabling the achievement of Indonesia’s renewable energy targets and a more ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The project supports the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas to shift policy settings to enable: – Faster growing contribution form renewable energy to the energy mix – Higher ambition to reach national emission reduction targets This is further supported through capacity building, awareness raising, and the deployment of innovative financial and fiscal mechanisms among project stakeholders, especially public sector employees. Embracing renewable energy will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fulfill NDC targets, create new job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and enhance energy security
