PROJECT DESCRIPTION
It is a group of 170 countries, cities, regions and organisations aiming to accelerate the coal phase-out of coal-fired power stations, except the very few which have carbon capture and storage.[2][3][4] It has been described as a "non-proliferation treaty" for fossil fuels.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) is a global coalition supporting the phase-out of unabated coal power, targeting 2030 for OECD/EU countries and 2050 for other regions. Singapore joined PPCA in 2021 and is currently the only ASEAN member state; other ASEAN countries have not yet joined as of February 2026. Therefore, the budget for ASEAN member states is set at zero.
