Low carbon building and sustainable cities pilot initiative
World Population Day, celebrated on July 11th, sheds light on the challenges posed by the increasing global population. Transitioning to clean energy addresses these challenges by meeting energy demands, mitigating climate change, protecting health, and ensuring sustainable development.
In this July newsletter, we feature our latest blog posts, present data from SIPET's Power Sector Snapshots, share energy-related news and policy developments in Southeast Asia, feature an energy transition champion, share employment opportunities, and re-introduce SIPET's tools and resources.
In this June 2024 edition of the SIPET Highlights, we have gathered insights from recent reports and discussions related to the Energy Transition to offer a comprehensive overview of the current status and prospects of natural gas in Thailand and in the region. Read more.
Welcome to the May issue of SIPET Highlights! This month, we are excited to showcase a project of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) that is transforming a district around a coal-fired power plant into a sustainable, smart city. As part of SIPET’s Labor Day commemoration, this edition focuses on equipping professionals for the evolving energy landscape.
For this April’s issue, SIPET Highlights focuses on coal phase-out initiatives, including the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), reports and perspectives from NewClimate Institute, Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), and TransitionZero. The phase-out of coal will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy in the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
