ICSC plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable energy practices in the Philippines through various initiatives:
- Renewable Energy Projects: ICSC promotes indigenous renewable energy at national and subnational levels. It supports on-grid and off-grid communities through policy guidance, technical expertise, and capacity-building initiatives, helping create an enabling environment for clean, sustainable, and climate-resilient energy solutions.
- Policy Advocacy:ICSC collaborates with government institutions—including the Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Finance, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Philippine Congress—to advance clean, affordable, reliable, and secure energy systems. Its work also highlights the financial and reliability risks of continued reliance on fossil fuel-based power generation.
- Capacity Building: ICSC provides data-driven analytical reports showing the urgency – and rapidly growing investment opportunities – in accelerating competition reforms in the energy sector. It has also provided critical guidance to national climate response strategies demonstrating the centrality of resilience in driving sustainable development forward that at the same time increasingly contributes to global decarbonization goals.
- Partnerships: ICSC serves as a key partner of the Department of Energy’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau (REMB) in driving the Philippines’ energy transition, providing technical and political leadership during the implementation of activities.
