Integrated sustainable energy and food production from microalgae-based carbon capture and utilization

Technologies for capturing carbon dioxide as a sustainable resource in Indonesia using microalgae will be integrated and developed, providing a profitable scenario for a carbon-neutral society.

January 2023 - December 2028
Technical Assistance for Geothermal Development Acceleration in Indonesia

This project supports Indonesia’s geothermal development by enhancing policies, institutional capacity, and updating the national master plan. It aims to reduce exploration risks, meet rising electricity demand, and help achieve the goal of tripling geothermal capacity by 2028, in line with Japan’s energy cooperation strategy.

October 2020 - September 2023
Project for Development of a Model System for Fluidized Bed Catalytic Gasification of Biomass Wastes and Following Liquid Fuel Production in Indonesia

This project aims to develop a cost-effective biomass gasification and methanol synthesis system using locally available clay catalysts and a stable fluidized bed design. It seeks to establish appropriate technology for Indonesia’s conditions, promoting renewable energy use through biomass waste utilization and supporting sustainable power and fuel production.

April 2019 - March 2019
Collaboration Program for Disseminating Japanese Technology for Electricity Distribution System and Management in the Philippines

Improve distribution system reliability of Electric Cooperatives with Distribution Network Mangement System (DNMS)

January 2018 - December 2019
Comprehensive Conversion of Biomass and Waste to Super Clean Fuels by New Solid Catalysts

This project aims to develop catalyst conversion technology to produce biofuels and chemicals from Thailand’s abundant biomass, helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. It supports a stable, low-emission energy supply and contributes to the country’s transition toward a low-carbon society.

August 2017 - August 2022
Improvement of Equipment for Power Distribution in Bangsamoro Area

This project supports the Bangsamoro region in the Philippines by upgrading aging power distribution infrastructure and strengthening the capacity of local electric cooperatives. It aims to improve electrification, promote economic and social development, and help prevent conflict recurrence by delivering tangible peace dividends to the community.

April 2017 - March 2019
Second Power Transmission and Distribution Network Development Project

This project supports the reinforcement and construction of substations and transmission/distribution lines in Viet Nam to address overburdened infrastructure and lack of backup routes. It aims to ensure a stable power supply and support uninterrupted economic activity, especially for industrial operations.

April 2015 - March 2020
A project to build a local energy circulation system that combines highly efficient fuel cells and recycled biogas

Promotion of the use of a sustainable local energy circulation system using organic waste as an energy source, which contributes to the realization of a low-carbon society and improvement of the living standards of local people.

A high-efficiency fuel cell that operates on local bioenergy was developed, and an environmentally friendly energy circulation system that utilizes organic waste such as sludge from shrimp ponds as an energy source was demonstrated.

April 2015 - March 2020
