Building Capacity for Low-Carbon Power Infrastructure Development

The project "Building Capacity for Low-Carbon Power Infrastructure Development" in Indonesia aims to strengthen renewable energy capacity in solar and wind generation, improve safeguards related to the environment, land acquisition, and indigenous peoples, and increase women's recruitment in renewable energy roles. It also focuses on planning a just transition to clean electricity and ensuring effective monitoring and reporting of results.

USAID Energy Secure Philippines

Funded through the U.S. Government’s Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative, USAID’s Energy Secure Philippines (USAID ESP) Activity is a five-year project that will assist the government of the Philippines in promoting a more competitive power sector through investment mobilization, deployment of modern energy technology, and support in policy reforms and implementation by

  • helping electric utility companies to improve performance,
  • increasing the use of advanced energy sources and systems and fostering competition in the market, and
  • improving the overall energy procurement process

With this integrated approach, RTI will support the Government of the Philippines to increase energy sector stakeholder resilience through increased readiness and efficiency.

Electric Public Transport Program (EPTP) in Bataan

a) feasibility study on electric public utility vehicle penetration in Bataan;

b) policy advisory supporting electric PUV program; and

c) investment mobilization - preparation of investment proposal for mobilizing potential resources

Electric Transportation and Charging Infrastructure

The TA will contribute to the policy action on electric transportation included in the policy matrix for the forthcoming policy-based loan on Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Program (SIEP) Subprogram 3, which is expected to be cofinanced by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund of the Republic of Korea. The SIEP has been supporting Presidential Regulation 55/2019, which paved the way for the promotion of EV deployment including charging infrastructure in Indonesia. The proposed TA will support a deployment roadmap, feasibility studies, and implementing regulations on electric charging infrastructure, critical to boost EV deployment. The TA will also help inform the proposed results-based loan for the Sustainable and Reliable Energy Access Program which includes support for EV charging infrastructure in western and central Java.

Jawa-1 Liquefied Natural Gas-to-Power Project

Develop, operate, and maintain a 1,760 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Indonesia, under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with PLN.

Philippine Smart Grid Pilot Project

The Philippine Smart Grid Pilot Project, supported by AFD, is an initiative implemented by the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the largest electricity distribution utility in the Philippines. The project aims to develop and deploy smart grid technologies and solutions in selected areas to enhance energy efficiency, enable demand response, and improve overall grid management.

Energy Smart Philippines Program

The Energy Smart Philippines Program is a project funded by AFD and the European Union (EU). It aims to promote the development of smart grids and renewable energy integration in the Philippines. The program focuses on improving the reliability and efficiency of the electricity grid and promoting the use of renewable energy sources.

Thai-German Climate Programme: TGCP

In its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), Thailand committed to reducing 20-25% of emissions from the energy, transport, waste and industry sectors by 2030 below business as usual

 

Main activities under TGCP-Energy are:

  • Conduct studies and develop policy recommendation papers on GHG mitigation-related topics (e.g. Renewable Energy Forecast, Electrification system for remote areas or islands in Thailand, MRV system for energy sector etc.), and provincial energy data management roadmap.
  • Design and develop innovative tools to assist the energy planning process, namely energy system modeling and the integrated energy planning platform.
  • Strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Energy’s staff in renewable energy, emerging energy technologies, climate change and effective energy planning process.
  • Develop provincial energy scenarios for Thai pilot provinces to support their planning process.
  • Support the implementation of project / activities under the provincial energy action plan in the pilot provinces.
  • Transfer knowledge and build up capacity of Thai institutions in the development of provincial energy scenarios.
