Philippine Geothermal Resource Derisking Facility
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The facility aims to address key barriers in geothermal energy development by reducing exploration risks. It uses a cost-sharing arrangement for exploration drilling to encourage investment and support the Philippines’ renewable energy objectives.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The PGRDF is a strategic initiative developed with ADB and implemented by REMB during 2024–2031. DOE entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines on 16 December 2025 for administration and management of the facility, while the feasibility study report, operations manual, and user guide are being drafted.
