Solar-Aquaculture Habitats as Resource-Efficient and Integrated Multilayer Production Systems (SHRIMPS)

The SHRIMPS project aims to reduce freshwater consumption, wastewater, CO2 emissions and pollutant inputs as well as achieve farms’ greater resilience to the impacts of climate change. It will also improve the economic situation of rural areas in the Mekong region, contribute to greater energy security, promote sustainable shrimp breeding methods and create a platform for international and interdisciplinary knowledge transfer.

August 2019 - May 2023
Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (EU-ASEP)

The overall objective of ASEP is to assist the Government of the Philippines in expanding its sustainable energy generation to meet the growing needs of its economy, and provide energy access to the poor and marginalized sector in accordance with the Philippine Development Plan. The Government of the Philippines is working on the following energy objectives:

  • Meeting its rural electrification targets by means of renewable energy;
  • Promoting energy efficiency;
  • Expanding its sustainable energy generation to meet the growing needs of its economy; and
  • Providing energy access for the poor through affordable, disaster-resilient energy systems.
October 2016 - December 2021
Thailand Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (RAC NAMA)

RAC NAMA supports producers in bringing to the market new climate-friendly and energy efficient cooling products that comply with regulations in Thailand. Producers will receive technical support in the product design and financial support for investment in the setting up of production lines. The project supports training programmes for service staff and technicians to prepare for different safety challenges. The project offers support to responsible ministries and agencies to define safety standards and building code in line with international best practices. Technology Adoption The project demonstrates best practices of energy performance standards, labels and other incentive schemes. The project further works with commercial end-users such as supermarket chains and hotels, to develop projects that reduce energy consumption in the RAC sector

April 2016 - March 2021
USAID Clean Power Asia

USAID Clean Power Asia’s goal was to accelerate the regional transition to a high performing, low carbon power sector, that was to be accomplished with three interconnected outcomes: high renewable energy scenarios included in energy planning; improved enabling policy, regulatory, and technical environment for renewable energy deployment; and increased investment in and deployment of grid-connected renewable energy projects.

June 2016 - June 2021
Support for Innovation and Technology Partnerships in Asia and the Pacific

HLT includes new and advanced technologies or innovative solutions that can reduce the life cycle cost of infrastructure, lower operation and maintenance cost, and increase durability. Modern and advanced equipment can improve efficiency and productivity, thereby saving resources. The adoption of innovative construction methods and technologies can minimize negative environmental and social impacts. Innovative approaches and a combination of different technologies can also improve the delivery of social services. The TA cluster will create a platform for novel engagement with technology providers to enable HLT adoptions in collaboration with DMC agencies. The TA cluster will build the capacity of DMC counterparts to design projects with HLT applications, understand the HLT market in specific sectors, assess HLT ecosystem readiness and leverage ADB's sector, thematic and DMC specific knowledge.

October 2018 - December 2022
USAID Energy Secure Philippines

Funded through the U.S. Government’s Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative, USAID’s Energy Secure Philippines (USAID ESP) Activity is a five-year project that will assist the government of the Philippines in promoting a more competitive power sector through investment mobilization, deployment of modern energy technology, and support in policy reforms and implementation by

  • helping electric utility companies to improve performance,
  • increasing the use of advanced energy sources and systems and fostering competition in the market, and
  • improving the overall energy procurement process

With this integrated approach, RTI will support the Government of the Philippines to increase energy sector stakeholder resilience through increased readiness and efficiency.

ASEAN Low Carbon Energy Programme

It supports four broad types of activity: capacity building of government, institutions and business; policy reform of energy frameworks and standards; market development by strengthening connections between project developers and investors; raising awareness of available technologies to increase the uptake of energy efficient products and services; and partnership coordination and commercial ventures. All components of the programme aim to improve energy security and inclusive access to clean and reliable energy sources, with direct benefits for the most vulnerable populations, including women. The LCEP focuses on two topics – Green Finance (GF) and Energy Efficiency (EE). The Carbon Trust is leading the delivery of the EE component in five countries: Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
