Green Banking - Capacity Building for Green Energy and Climate Finance

Participants will gain specific know-how in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, as well as appropriate risk evaluation and mitigation schemes. The development of private sector finance instruments for climate change mitigation will be fostered and the readiness to leverage national credit lines with international climate change mitigation schemes will be increased. Knowledge about existing international climate change mitigation funds and the available access opportunities will be disseminated.

Global Climate Partnership Fund

As an innovative public-private partnership, GCPF uses public funding to leverage private capital in order to mitigate climate change and drive sustainable growth in developing and emerging markets. GCPF mainly invests through local financial institutions but also directly. GCPF finances projects targeting small and medium-sized businesses and private households, specifically: Energy efficiency projects that reduce projected greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 20% Renewable energy generation projects

The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT)

Buildings and space cooling is the main driver for the growing future electricity demand and rising GHG emissions in Asia. The project addresses regulatory, capacity and financing gaps that prevent large scale adoption of low carbon buildings. The project will develop technical and institutional capacity for city/state governments. To transform existing and new buildings towards carbon neutrality by 2050, the project will focus on enhancing capacity to achieve regional and national ambition and targets for low carbon buildings, with policy recommendations. It will establish common metrics (taxonomy/MRV system) and central registry for certified buildings. Through building certification and business model innovation, the project will try to mobilize public and private finance. To raise awareness and promote replication locally and globally, the project will share best practises and showcase successes.
