PROJECT OBJECTIVE

This paper is an update of a 2017 publication written for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) in Viet Nam on a Socially Just Energy Transition in Viet Nam. This energy transition must deliver a large part of Viet Nam’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mitigation, provide access to clean energy for all, and create opportunities for decent jobs and micro-businesses for the rural poor, women and ethnic minorities.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is an implementing organisation of the German Federal Government in the field of technical cooperation. Cooperation with the Vietnamese government has traditionally been very close and supportive. In Vietnam, GIZ works in four thematic clusters, (i) sustainable economic development, (ii) renewable energy and energy efficiency, (iii) climate & environment and (iv) TVET, labour market and labour migration. In this specific case, this is a call for tenders within the framework of a cooperation between the two clusters Energy and TVET, Labour Market and Labour Migration. The broader objective of the cooperation is to support the Vietnamese government in the just transition to a green economy. A green economy is characterized on the one hand by an improved human well-being and social equity and on the other hand by significantly reduced environmental risks and ecological scarcity.
