PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The ADLIGHT project aims to accelerate the adoption of high-efficiency lighting technologies in Indonesia by transforming the national market. This transformation will reduce electricity consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The project will strengthen the local lighting industry’s capacity to manufacture high-quality lighting systems aligned with Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), supported by regulatory improvements, procurement policies, better customs procedures, innovative business models, and public awareness initiatives.
By the third year, the project is expected to generate cumulative electricity savings of 310 GWh and reduce GHG emissions by 250 kt CO2. Demonstration projects will help scale up market adoption, with long-term potential to reduce emissions by up to 1,646 kt CO2.
ADLIGHT will be implemented through three components: (1) support for the local lighting industry to transform the market, (2) development of regulatory and enforcement mechanisms, and (3) promotion of new business models and awareness for energy-efficient lighting.
