The evolving global energy landscape presents a pivotal moment for Indonesia, Viet Nam, the Philippines, and Thailand, the focus countries of the project “Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia”. The COP28 outcome to globally transition away from fossil fuels affirms the need for significant shifts in the countries’ energy systems. While renewables are gaining traction in the region and green hydrogen appears increasingly accessible, the countries heavily rely on fossil fuels and government plans increase their use to meet growing demands.
In this webinar, the CASE team presents opportunities and challenges in shifting the energy sectors of the CASE countries to largely decarbonised systems. We compare the role of electrification and gaseous energy carriers in this transition, and discuss how different choices impact energy security.
The input presentation is followed by reactions from energy experts in the CASE countries and a “Q&A” session.
