Supporting the Implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in Viet Nam
Lead the Just Transition Working Group (JT-WG) under the Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (I-JETP) Secretariat. Support implementation of Indonesia JETP Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP).
The project aims to accelerate progress on the SDGs and climate goals by fostering collaboration, scaling up public investment, and promoting high-impact initiatives. It supports joint UN efforts, enhances policy ambition, and addresses priorities like digital access, gender equality, carbon neutrality, and SDG financing—targeting a catalytic return on investment of 1:20.
As part of the Asia and the Pacific programme, the CFN will support Viet Nam to mobilise and effectively manage, utilise, track and report finance sources for climate change responses in Viet Nam. This will cover activities across all the six workstreams, with a focus on creating policy framework, building capacity and enhancing governance to mobilize and combine climate finance, including domestic finance, international finance and private sector’s investment. Strategic policy analysis and dialogues on climate change response measures as defined in Viet Nam’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), including energy transition, circular economy, will be undertaken to inform enhanced actions and investments by the government, cities, businesses, private sectors and women and men, youth and all Vietnamese people.
The initiative informs the country with green economies policy making through modelling and assessment.
Strengthen the climate change mitigation options from renewable energy and energy efficiency sector
The MTRE3 project aims to assist Indonesia in designing and implementing effective climate change mitigation actions in the energy generation and end-use sectors. Its main goal is to support the achievement of Indonesia’s voluntary GHG reduction targets by: Enabling a sustainable market for renewable energy and energy efficiency. Addressing key barriers and establishing supportive policy and market conditions. Focusing on: Renewable-based electricity generation, Energy efficiency in commercial buildings, Market transformation, A system for monitoring (MRV), and raising awareness.
