The project aims to support Vietnam in its implementation of a national policy roadmap for air conditioners. Through the Lower Mekong Initiative and the ASEAN Standardization Harmonization Initiative for Efficiency (SHINE) program, this project will build on the existing ASEAN Regional Policy Roadmap and the Vietnam National Roadmap by assisting Vietnam in implementing higher minimum energy performance standards for air conditioning and encouraging enforcement of those standards.

The primary objective of the AIMS project is to establish a robust and interconnected power grid among ASEAN member countries. The project aims to facilitate the exchange of electricity across borders, promote power trade, optimize energy resources, and enhance the overall reliability and resilience of the ASEAN power systems.
This project studies the formation of the ASEAN Power Grid Transmission System Operator Institution (ATSO). It provides an overview of the international case examples that have been used as a basis in creating the ATSO project deliverables. The project is aligned and coordinated with the deliverables from the Study on the Formation of the ASEAN Power Grid Generation and Transmission System Planning Institution (AGTP).
The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) is a financing facility established by the ASEAN Infrastructure Financing Mechanism (AIFM) to support infrastructure development in the ASEAN region, including the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative. Examples of funding to transmission lines projects that will be part of APG: 1. Indonesia: Java Bali Power Transmission (USD25 million) 2. Sumatra Power Transmission Improvement Project 3. the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP–EAGA). 4. The Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT)

Led by Bloomberg Philanthropies, in partnership with the Powering Past Coal Alliance, and powered by leading data and research organizations, the Bloomberg Global Coal Countdown serves as the primary online resource for monitoring the global efforts to phase out coal. The Bloomberg Global Coal Countdown aggregates data from organizations including Global Energy Monitor, the Center for Global Sustainability at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, Ember, and E3G. Access to free and transparent data on the status of coal plants around the world is essential to accelerating and tracking the countdown to a clean energy future. The Bloomberg Global Coal Countdown provides a look into the national progress away from coal, highlighting the countries that are leading the way.
Bloomberg Philanthropies and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) announced a new COP28 partnership. This partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of clean energy and mobilize capital in emerging markets and developing economies. Bloomberg Philanthropies’ support will enable IRENA to advance efforts to drive the widespread adoption of renewable energy and reduce political, technical, and financial barriers to the energy transition by building capacities in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, strengthening project finance and preparation through the Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) Platform , and facilitating private capital mobilization.
A $24.3 million grant is dedicated to facilitating the energy transition in Southeast Asia. This includes providing targeted technical assistance to governments and key power sector institutions and lending support to emerging local civil society organizations.
CIFF has committed a total grant of $12.2 million to bolster essential local civil society organizations in Southeast Asia. These organizations focus on overcoming technical, regulatory, political, and cultural barriers to clean energy deployment. Additionally, the grant supports Indonesia and Vietnam by offering targeted technical assistance to their governments and key power sector institutions, helping them integrate more clean energy into their national grids.
CIFF will be leveraging its strengths, and working with governments and global philanthropies to maximise our collective impact, building on and extending existing partnerships across the region. This innovative partnership will allow for coordinated support and faster action, and is intended to encourage other governments and philanthropies to join. At present, the global philanthropies involved include CIFF, Bloomberg Philanthropies, ClimateWorks Foundation, the European Climate Foundation, Growald Family Fund, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, IKEA Foundation, OIF and the Sea Change Foundation
